Experience the rhythm and passion of Latin America at our Latin American Music Workshop and Jam Session. This event invites participants of all ages and musical backgrounds to explore the vibrant music traditions of the continent. From samba and salsa to tango and cumbia, attendees will dive into a variety of styles through interactive workshops led by professional musicians and cultural educators.

The event begins at 2:00 PM with an introductory workshop on percussion and rhythm, focusing on traditional instruments such as congas, bongos, and maracas. Participants will learn fundamental techniques, rhythmic patterns, and how these instruments contribute to Latin American music. Emphasis will be placed on active participation, allowing attendees to play along with the instructors and practice creating ensemble rhythms.

At 3:30 PM, the workshop transitions to melody and song, where participants will explore classic Latin American melodies using keyboards, guitars, and wind instruments. Vocal exercises will accompany instrumental practice, providing a complete musical experience. Participants will be encouraged to sing along, experiment with improvisation, and develop a sense of timing and musical collaboration.

The highlight of the event begins at 5:00 PM: a community jam session, open to all attendees. This session allows participants to apply what they’ve learned, collaborate with others, and perform in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Our instructors will guide the group, ensuring that even beginners can contribute meaningfully. The session encourages creativity, interaction, and mutual support, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

Throughout the event, attendees will also have opportunities to learn about the cultural and historical context of each musical style. Presentations and short discussions will explain the origins, evolution, and social significance of the music, providing participants with a deeper understanding of Latin American culture.

This free event is designed to be inclusive and accessible, welcoming anyone interested in music, culture, or community engagement. Whether you are an experienced musician, a student, or simply curious, you will leave with new skills, a broader appreciation for Latin American music, and meaningful connections with fellow participants.
